what we collect
| Data | When | Where it lives | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nothing (browsing) | Using the radar, 3D or boards | Not stored by us | n/a |
| Preferences, bookmarks, recent flights, cached route lookups | As you use the app | Only in your browser (localStorage) | Until you clear site data |
| Replay snapshots: aircraft positions the map received in the last 3 hours | While the 2D map is open | Only in your browser (IndexedDB) | 3 hours, then overwritten |
| Shared GPS track: position, altitude, speed, heading, accuracy, time, and the flight number you type | Only after you start Share my flight and allow location | Our database on Cloudflare | Deleted automatically 2 hours after landing (at most a day after the last position) |
| Your position and the direction you face, for Near me | Only after you press Near me and allow location (and motion, on some phones) | Only inside your browser, never sent to us or anyone else | Not stored; discarded when you stop Near me or close the page |
| Boarding pass, ticket or email text you read on Track a flight, and camera frames while scanning | Only when you upload, scan or paste | Only inside your browser; only the flight number and date are taken from it | Not stored; the file, text and camera frames are discarded as soon as they are read |
| Your landing recording: motion readings, and your GPS path | Only after you press "I'm on this flight" and allow location and motion | Motion readings only in your browser. The GPS path also goes to our database on Cloudflare so people with your family link can see it | GPS path: deleted 2 hours after landing. In your browser: until you delete it or clear site data |
| A landing report: flight number, date, touchdown time, how it was measured | Only if you press Send after landing | Our database on Cloudflare (no identifier, not linked to you) | Kept to improve landing-time estimates |
| Family alerts: flight number, date, radar callsign, take-off / landing / back-online times, and a push address for each phone that asked for messages (yours and your family's) | Only after you press "I'm on this flight" (and allow notifications), or open a family link and press "Tell me when it lands" | Our database on Cloudflare (no name, PNR or IP; your GPS path as described above) | Deleted 2 hours after landing (at most 24 hours), or at once with "Delete from this phone" |
| IP address | When you create a share (abuse limit: 6 per hour) | Our database on Cloudflare | Deleted within the hour |
| Standard request logs (IP, browser, page) | Every request | Our hosts, Vercel and Cloudflare, for delivery and security | Per their policies (hours to days) |
share my flight
Share my flight now opens Track a flight: pick your flight and press "I'm on this flight" (see "telling your family when you land" below). Links made with the older share page work as follows. Sharing is off until you start it and your browser asks for location permission. Your phone keeps the points on the device while offline and uploads them when it reconnects. Anyone with your share link can see the track, rounded to about 10 metres. Stop sharing at any time from the share page; the link stops working and everything is deleted 2 hours after the flight lands (or after you stop sharing), and at most a day after the last position if neither happens. To delete it sooner, email aryanjarvis32@gmail.com with the share link.
"I'm on this flight" on the radar uses your location only inside your browser and never sends it to us.
near me and the sky view
Near me is optional and stays off until you press it and your browser asks for permission. Your position, and on a phone the direction it points, are used only inside your browser to work out which aircraft is above you. They are not sent to us or to any third party, not stored and not logged. The request that loads aircraft carries no location from your device. While Near me is on, the page asks your device to keep the screen awake; that stops when you leave Near me.
ask in words (search)
The search box can turn a sentence into a filter. A small language model built for this project runs inside your browser (about 2.5 MB, downloaded from this site the first time you use it, plus a runtime library from jsDelivr). What you type is processed on your device and is not sent to us. The result is only used to filter aircraft already on your screen.
track a flight and boarding passes
Track a flight shows one flight by its flight number and date. If you upload or scan a boarding pass, or paste ticket or email text, it is read inside your browser by code served from this site. We take only the flight number, the date and the airports from it. Your name, booking reference (PNR), seat, ticket number and frequent-flyer number are never used, stored or sent, and the file and camera frames are discarded as soon as they are read. The camera is used only while the scan screen is open, after your browser asks for permission.
A track link looks like /track/6E2024?d=2026-11-05: it carries only the flight number and date, so anyone you send it to sees the flight, not you. Like any page request it appears in our hosts' standard logs. The page looks up the flight's route with adsbdb (it sends the flight number) and its position from public radar. Your recent tracked flights are kept only in your browser.
recording your landing on board
On a flight's track page you can choose "I'm on this flight" to have your phone time the landing. It uses only receivers that are allowed in flight mode: GPS and the motion sensor (accelerometer). Keep flight mode on and follow the crew's instructions. The motion readings stay only in your browser. While the page is open, your GPS path is also sent to the trip, so people with your family link see it on the map; it is deleted with the trip, 2 hours after landing; delete it any time with "Delete from this phone". After landing you may choose, if you are 18 or older, to send the flight number, date, touchdown time and how it was measured. Nothing else is sent: no location track, no device identifier, no name. To stop abuse we count reports per network for an hour using a one-way hash, not your IP address, and the count is deleted within the hour.
telling your family when you land
"I'm on this flight" also creates a short-lived trip and a family link you can send. People with the link see the flight on radar and, while your page is open, your GPS path. If you allow notifications, your browser gives us a push address (an anonymous address at Google, Apple or Mozilla's push service; it does not identify you to us). We follow the flight on public radar. Once it is in the air we send one message to that address. Push services hold messages while a phone is offline, so it reaches your phone when you switch flight mode off after landing; your phone then tells us it is back online, and we send your family "landed" and "phone back online". We never ask you to switch flight mode off: follow the crew. Family members who press "Tell me when it lands" give us their own push address the same way. Everything about the trip is deleted 2 hours after landing (at most 24 hours after it starts), or at once when you press "Delete from this phone". We store no name, PNR or IP for it, and your location only as the GPS path described above; the abuse limit uses an hourly salted hash of the IP that is deleted within two hours. On iPhone, Apple allows these messages only for sites added to the Home Screen.
aircraft data
Aircraft positions come from public ADS-B radio broadcasts collected by community receiver networks (see Credits). Registration and type come from public databases. Aircraft owners who want their aircraft hidden can email aryanjarvis32@gmail.com with the registration or hex code.
third parties your browser talks to
To draw the map and load the app, your browser fetches files directly from these services, which therefore see your IP address: OpenFreeMap (map tiles), Esri (satellite imagery in 3D and on the live and track pages), AWS open terrain tiles, EUMETSAT (clouds, via our server), adsbdb (route and airframe lookups, sends a flight number or aircraft code), Google Fonts, the jsDelivr and cdnjs code libraries, and, only if you turn on family alerts, your browser's push service (Google, Apple or Mozilla), which delivers our messages. We don't embed social widgets or ad networks.
your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask what data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and withdraw consent (stop sharing). Email aryanjarvis32@gmail.com; we reply within 30 days. The service is not directed at children under 18; Share my flight should be started by an adult.
